& National Forum for Lifelong Guidance Policy
Held in Kraków, Poland on 27 – 30 June 2010

 



The main aim of the Conference was to get a comprehensive overview of current theories and practices of job orientation of university students and job placement of graduates. The special attention was put on the Lifelong Guidance practices to recognize how far the vocational guidance supports graduates in their transition to the labour market.
The conference brought together over 40 participants. It provided an opportunity for 11 speakers from a variety of fields (scientists, experts, NGOs, Partners of the project from EU countries) to take part in the panels. Active participation in the debates was also encouraged.
Most of the participants arrived on Sunday June, 27 2010 and were accommodated in the ROKK Hotel, Rzemieślnicza Street 20, 30-363 Kraków. In the same day in lobby of this hotel took place an informal meeting of the participants.
The next day (June, 28) in Collegium Maius, Room Casimirus of Jagiellonian University took place the Registration of the Conference Participants. Czesław Noworol the representative of the Jagiellonian University and the President of National Forum for Lifelong Guidance Policy welcomed participants and spoke of the important challenges that European graduates face at present.

 

After the welcome address there were three key presentations of:

  • Reanata Livraghi, Strategies for Young Graduates: Transition and Education for Labour;
  • Czesław Noworol Lifelong Guidance towards encouraging University Dropouts to the Labour Market;
  • Adam Biela, The structure of decision making process in Transition to European Labour Market.

Following this part of the conference, participants visited Collegium Maius and had lunch in the restaurant in the Old Town.
After a break the proceedings were resumed in the the Auditorium Maximum of the Jagiellonian University. General Europlacement Session consisted of four presentations. Adam Biela continued the presentation: The structure of decision making process in Transition to European Labour Market. The next speaker was Kimmo Kosunen who presented The Project Europlacement – general overview. The subsequent speaker Wlodzimierz Trzeciak briefly outlined the Activity of the National Forum for Lifelong Guidance Policy towards development of Lifelong Guidance Policy in Poland (Działalność NFDK na rzecz rozwoju Całożyciowego Doradztwa Kariery). The last speaker was Bohdan Roznowski who presented Pathways of School to Work Transition in Frame of the Context Indicators in the Lublin Region.
The first day of the Conference was ended with the dinner in the Morskie Oko Restaurant in the Old Town.
On June 29 after the breakfast participants visited the Cathedral and Wawel Castle. After returning to the Hotel and the lunch the Europlacement Workshops had started. The first to present was Aneta Peromingo with her interactive workshop, which lasted 2 hours: Mobility and Career Development.

 
The next presentation in the panel was Jakub Sokolnicki’s "The role of careers advisors in the milieu of medical universities' students and graduates". The subsequent speakers were Margarita Todorova and Georgi Todorov with "Using Multimedia Technologies in e-Portfolio". The last speaker was Jesús Ángel Rodríguez Rey who familiarized participants with the new methods of work by his presentation: An innovative Intranet tool for Internship management and job guidance for graduates.
The second day of conference culminated in visiting the Old Town and ceremonial dinner in the Wesele Restaurant. On June, 30 took part the departure of foreign participants of the conference.
All the participants fulfilled the evaluation questionnaire, prepared by the University of Bologna, before leaving the conference place.
